Vocabulary Words

This card was made as a HAPPY RETIREMENT card for one of my favorite teachers. As an avid cyclist and wonderful teacher, this card combined those two passions – I’d like to think.

After I decided on the versatile semi-masculine paper pad by Echo Park (“This & That Charming”), I wanted to use a lot of the bikes in the Hero Arts “Joy Ride” stamp set but didn’t want them to take center stage. By using them as a background and clear embossing the stamped image, I got a nice subtle look that I think it adds a lot of interest with such a dark background.

One of the wonderful things about this teacher was his passion for inspiring young children. He encouraged our curiosity for learning in so many elementary school students. He even went outside the box of vocabulary words for many 1st graders. Words like: elaboration, flexibility, imagination, etc. So, to honor that, I thought a nice addition of some vocabulary words fitting for retirement was in order.

I stamped the Stampabilities “Definitions” stamp set on a few of the papers from the same pack and trimmed them down to be banners.

After grabbing a few strips to add more color to the card, I adhered the banners and began on the top line.

ImageTo the top line some Tim Holtz label letters were added and the card was finished off with a few lines from a ZIG marker.

Finished card

A moderately simple card but definitely unique to the recipient.
